Our Purpose

To guide girls to realize the joy of a Christ-centered life and how joyfully they can serve Him; their church; their family and their community.  LGP provides an avenue for girls  to develop leadership skills and to become service oriented, mission-minded young women.

All About the LGP

LUTHERAN GIRL PIONEERS (LGP)

Lutheran Girl Pioneers is a Christ-centered organization for girls of the Wisconsin Evangelical Synod (WELS) and the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS).

 

Lutheran Girl Pioneers encourages girls and leaders to do all things according to God's Word and out of love and respect for God. LGP offers opportunities for fellowship and encourages service to family, church and community. LGP strives to center all of its activities in the teachings of the Holy Bible.

 

 

A LOCAL GROUP OF LGP IS CALLED A CARAVAN.

 
A CARAVAN:

  • Is directed by the Caravan Council, Caravan Counselor and Leaders with guidance from the Pastor.
  • Is provided leadership and training materials to use as long as annual membership fees are submitted.
  • Offers a variety of practical and interesting subjects taught by the leaders or by professional people who are asked to assist.
  • Encourages girls to achieve and advance beginning as SUNBEAMS continuing as TRAVELERS, TRAILBLAZERS and HOMESTEADERS and on to the highest level, SPINNERS.
  • provides opportunities for girls to pursue their interests through SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS:
     
    • First Aid
    • Handicraft
    • Nature
    • Leadership
    • Transportation
    • Drama
    • Photography
    • Cooking
    • Citizenship
    • Music
    • Camping
    • Art

CARAVANS IN A GIVEN REGIONAL AREA FORM AN LGP DISTRICT

 
A DISTRICT:

  • Has periodic meetings where leaders share and receive new ideas.
  • Is served by District Officers elected by Caravan Delegates (Leaders).
  • Is served by a District Counselor, appointed by the National Council who:
    • acts as a liaison between the international organization and the Caravans.
    • helps organize new Caravans.
    • offers assistance to Caravan Leaders.
  • Organizes activities to promote fellowship among the girls and leaders: camping, outings, field days, sleepovers, etc.

 

THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION PROVIDES:

  • Caravan leader materials to new caravans.
  • An audio-visual lending library which is continually updated to offer current information to leaders and girls.
  • Devotional and recreational materials.
  • Nationally sponsored activities for the girls.
  • Monthly newsletters for leaders.
  • A newsletter three times a year for the girls.
  • Handbooks, clothing and achievement award materials for caravans to purchase.

 

AN ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE PER GIRL IN AN ACTIVE CARAVAN IS USED TO:

  • Maintain the LGP headquarters
  • Pay administrative and office staff.
  • Operate an international program.
  • Keep materials in stock for caravans to order.
  • Help fund regional leadership training clinics.
